NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – There are 92 people in Newport News who will not be having a Merry Christmas this year. Newport News Police Department arrested 49 people on Thursday (Dec. 12) and 43 more on Friday (Dec. 13).

It was a successful two-day operation that specifically targeted wanted persons with outstanding warrants.

Among the “unlucky 92” were a total of 338 charges. There were 185 summons for traffic violations, 105 misdemeanor charges and 48 felony charges.

The Newport News Police Department did not act alone. They were assisted by the Virginia State Police, United States Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force along with other local, state and federal agencies.

Good job Newport News Police Department. Maybe the Norfolk Police Department can learn a thing or two from you.
