WEST MUNDEN, SOUTH NORFOLK, Chesapeake, VA 23324 — On the 1600 block of Rhodes Street, Clinton C. Bright, 61 at the time, was arrested on August 27, 2016 for multiple charges.
Bright had a long criminal history. For nearly two decades, he violated probation and committed several other criminal offenses, while only receiving short jail sentences.
Based on public information, some of his first offenses dated back to the early 1990s. On June 1, 1992, Bright was accused of rape. The victim age and gender is unknown. He was arrested on October 6, 1994. Although, he pled “not guilty” on December 4, 1995, he was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to five years in prison on December 5, 1995. Bright registered as a sex offender on July 29, 1998.
Bright moved into his family’s home on the 1600 block of Rhodes Street where other former felons resided.
After being released from prison for rape, he continued to commit other crimes, such as credit card theft, credit card forgery, credit card fraud, first offense DUI, driving on a suspended license, forging a public record and helping to conceal stolen property.
On August 27, 2015, Bright was accused and arrested for endangering a child. However, the verdict was nolle prosequi. Moreover, he was charged with being a habitual offender on the same day.
Bright is now serving eight years in prison. He is set to be released in 2024 and may rejoin the West Munden community.
